About

Hon. Senator Rahmat Shah was born in North Sumatra, Indonesia. He is an international businessman as well as a Senator of Indonesia, representing North Sumatra (the regional representatives council of the republic of Indonesia).

As well as member of parlement (MPR-RI). His career started in 1970 until 1980 as a sole agent for ford under PT.IKA DIESEL. In 1991-2008 he started an aluminium manufacturing industry under PT CAKRA compact listed in Singapore. In 2004 until today he runs a palm oil and rubber plantation. From 1980 until today he owns PT. UNITWIN Indonesia which deals in real – estate , import – export, trading as well as construction and mining.

His interest in politics and his commitement to improve the well – being and progress for his hometown led him to be appointed as regional representative for the people’s consultative assembly (MPR-RI) from 1991 until 2004 . A side from political activities, he is very involved in numerous well – known social organizations such a chairman of Indonesia red cross society and forki (Indonesia federation for karate-do) in North Sumatra.

Currently he is the chairman of indonesia zoological park association (PKBSI). With his foundation namely Rahmat Foundation, many social and humanitarian activities have been carried out such providing routine support and contributions for religious, education, youth, sport, small, scale industries and businesses, under priviledge people and orphanage homes. The motto for Rahmat Foundation is “small, genuine and precious“.

Inspired by his passion for wildlife he has built Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery. It’s the only one in asia it was officially opened by the President of Republic of Indonesia, DR.H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The museum now has more than 2600 species of wildlife trophies from all over the world. In 1995 he took over the management and Siantar Zoo. He turned it form the worst to become one of the best in Indonesia. He has achieved numerous national and international awards.

SCI-USA (Safari Club International) awarded him the international conservation award. His name is officially stamped on the walls of safari club international museum in Tucson, Arizona.

He was awarded the primaniyarta award (best perfomance exporter) by the late Indonesian president Soeharto, the Satyalencana award was bestowed to him by the 6th Indonesian presiden DR.H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and the Bintang Mahaputra Nararya by the current president Ir. Jokowi Widodo. This award represent individuals who are aware and committed to the enviroment and community.

There are many other awards from the education, religious, governmental, cultural, wildlife, youth, sports, and other organizations in appreciation for Rahmat’s contributions for the people of Indonesia, that can’t simply all be listed due to limitation of space.

In 1995 Rahmat Shah was appointed as Honorary Consul General for Republic of Turkey for Sumatra island. He is given full authority to endorse all exports and imports.

Turkey is a secular country with no official religion. The Turkish Constitution guarantees religious and conscience freedom.

Turkey has a diverse range of cuisines, the most well-known of which are Baklava, Doner kebab, Pilaf, and Rice Pudding.
