About

Hon. Fabian Buddy Pascoal is a partner and one of the founding members of Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (now Dentons HPRP). Having joined the firm’s predecessor in 1992, he was made a partner in 1999. He holds all three of the legal professional licenses recognised in Indonesa, being licensed as an Advocate, as a Capital Market Legal Counsel, and as an Intellectual Property Consultant. As a leading figure in Dentons HPRP, Fabian has played an important role in a wide range of significant transactions involving both domestic and international business in various types of work, such as foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and debt restructuring, real estate, intellectual property rights, commercial litigation including arbitration, mining, and plantations, and serving as an Indonesian law expert witness in a number of cases in foreign courts and arbitration hearings.

His notable achievements in board rooms and court rooms have been made possible by his submitting himself to classroom learning exposures at prestigious institutions. Fabian (a) graduated top of the class from the University of Indonesia in 1992, (b) earned a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) by the University of California at Berkeley, School of Law, USA in 1998, and (c) is an alumnus of Indonesia’s highest national leadership course at the Indonesian Resilience Institute (LEMHANNAS RI) Class of 55 in 2016. He has been greatly benefited in another way by his past teaching services at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia. His extended exposure to educational experience has proven to be a fruitful door opener to a more significant, relevant and joyful life.

As much as he loves reading, he is equally thrilled and passionate to share his thoughts and experiences in writing, among others, in Asia Globe Magazine, a well-known Indonesian English language magazine and World Business Book – an annual business book published by World Bank, Washington D.C. The reading and writing activities are made whole with his valuable experience of public speaking. Several governmental authorities, associations, and corporations have extended to him the privilege of being a speaker at domestic and international forums and seminars. Fabian finds his life even more fulfilling with his public and social services, among others, as the Special Advisor to the Governor of North Sulawesi on Investment Matters, a member of the Board of Trustees of ASEAN People’s Association in Los Angeles, California, US, and a member of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Management of several institutions, local and international.

The shareholders of PT ORIX Indonesia Finance have trusted him to serve as the independent commissioner of that company, and the government of the Republic of Albania graciously found him to be the right choice to serve as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania to Indonesia, providing him with the unique diplomatic privilege of representing a wonderful foreign country in his adorable home country.

All is divinely arranged, and beautifully timed.
